Sketchwalk around Fremantle

Urban Sketchers Perth had a sketchwalk around Fremantle this morning, starting at the Fremantle Markets we walked around stopping and sketching for 10-15 minutes at a time. None of my sketches are very “finished” – there’s only so much you can get down on a page in such a short time, but all the drawing and watercolour was done in on location so I’m quite please with the results – given it takes a few minutes at least to decide on what to sketch before actually starting!

Stopping at corner of Parry St and South Terrace to sketch a disused corner shop “Beer’s Buildings” then down the road to the entrance of Fremantle Oval.

Walked around towards the town hall and sketched a man sitting on the pavement outside of the “Freo Convenience Store” (I miss spelled on my sketch – ran out of space). Finally headed back along Packenham St and drew one of the ornate lamp-posts.

This sketch below is one I did before we started, I’ve been wanting to go back and paint this doorway again, the buildings are in the process of being renovated but it looks like there still quite a lot of work to do….
