City Beach Kiosk and a cloudy day at North Cottesloe

This is the little kiosk at the South end of City Beach….I don’t think that it’s open anymore as there are new cafes higher up the beach that have opened recently…..

Below an unsuccessful attempt to capture the pale winter sun shining through high clouds at North Cottesloe. The sky colours were delicate yellow, peach and pale blue. I really should have taken proper watercolour paper to attempt this….needed lots of watery paint….and the ability to lift colour out again….another lesson learnt!

Marine Parade, Cottesloe

A beautiful balmy Autumn afternoon down at the Indian Ocean on Marine Parade, Cottesloe. The sea was really calm, a few people about – dog walking, stand-up paddle boarding, a scuba diver, some swimming and a few disappointed surfers (tiny swell). The water looked so inviting, pity I forgot my bathers…..next time….

A quick sketch below of Pakenham Street, Fremantle, the big cranes of the wharf on the horizon.

#TypeClubWA – workshop at Claremont Goods Shed

At the Claremont Goods Shed this morning for a gathering of the #typeclubwa – people interested in hand lettering, font styles and graphic design. Lots of different types of pens, brushpens, textas, pencils, watercolour – creating lots of different writing styles…. some curly and wandering…. others angular and edgy. I had fun scribbling on the paper covered table but even more fun sketching the people down the table as they created their “words of art”.

Inside the Claremont Goods Shed….

First time inside the renovated space that is the old Claremont Goods Shed, now an art space, currently has some “tisher” lighting installations that are pretty cool…Interactive lights that turn or off or dim when blown in the breeze or touched by a hand, other creation that caught my eye was artificial butterflies trapped in large light bulbs that flutter to life when you walk past. Very hard to sketch someone else’s art creation especially installation art that is created by lights but a quick sketch of the gallery space below….
